Inspiration

This beautiful 'Poetry of Winter' piece is giclée print, reproduced from an original handprinted collagraph created with pressed botanicals and sustainable inks.

Eucalyptus leaves bring seasonal colours to the ceramic elements, which in turn show their gold kintsugi repairs. The kintsugi this time is a copper/rose gold foil, bringing warm tones. The work is inspired by the pottery forms I am repeatedly drawn to. There is a blog post about the printing technique I employ below.

The Finer Details

1/15 giclée print.

This is a digital reproduction of an original collagraph print.

Image size

42cm x 29.7cm

How Its Made

I take time to create, by hand, the collagraph, using a range of tools and materials. The plant itself is pressed (sometimes for weeks) before committing to print. I ink up the collagraph plate, then run it through my etching press, hand cranking it onto pre dampened paper.

The Gicleé prints are digital images, using a specialist printer with 12 ink tanks. All prints come unframed, unmounted, wrapped in compostable cellophane with a recycled card backing. Each print is individually hand signed, embossed with my logo and numbered.
