Two fern fronds print - Last Light- Solar Plate Print

Originating from a photo I took, of the ferns I enjoy growing in our garden. We have the smallest of ferneries, where I admire the varied fronds, of a species of the oldest groups of plants, with a fossil record dating back millions of years. Living a life close to nature, definitely makes you think about seasons and time, and ferns really press you to do just that,

This fern print makes a special gift for an admirer of these plants with their unfurling new growth and large lush leaves, looking beautiful framed on its own or with other prints, on a gallery wall.

It is printed in a limited edition of 20.

3/20.

This hand inked, sepia like print is made using a process of named solar plate printing.

The result of the solar plate printing is sometimes described as ‘acid-free etching’ as it can achieve a fantastically wide range of texture, tone and line work without the use of any hazardous chemicals or processes.

Paper size: 29.7cm x 21cm

Image size: 10.3cm x 14.7cm

I hand printed it on my Gunning etching press, in my Lincolnshire studio.

It is printed on high quality, unbleached Somerset paper, using using inks which have beautiful pigments rather than dyes so they offer excellent lightfastness and permanance . The inks carry the AP approved mark, so they are non toxic & solvent free.
