Inspiration

This beautiful 'Earth Honoured' print is a handprinted collagraph created with beautiful  textures and sustainable inks. The colours represent the origins of the clay, from which the bowl has been raised, as well as the glazes chosen by the potter. The work is inspired by Kintsugi, the Japanese art of mending broken pottery with lacquer and powdered gold. It celebrates the beauty of imperfection by emphasizing fractures instead of hiding them.

How Its Made

This monoprint was created using a unique printmaking technique, Monoprints are one-of-a-kind images, where ink is applied to a surface, then transferred to paper. I created this one using my Gunning press. Each print is distinct and cannot be replicated exactly. If you'd like to learn more about the creation of collagraph prints in general, read my related blog post So... What is a collagraph print...?

All prints come unframed, wrapped in compostable cellophane with a recycled card backing. Each print is individually hand signed, embossed with my logo and numbered.
