Carrot Flower print - First Light
Orininating from a photo I took, early one morning, of the long stemmed wild carrot flower. Its seed heads provide insects with a safe place to hide from frosts in winter, while its white, tiny flowers quietly decorate the paddock in front of my home studio, during the hot summer months.
This wild carrot flower print makes a special gift for an admirer of seed heads, framed with beautifully on its own or with other prints, on a gallery wall.
It is printed in a limited edition of 20. Some of the prints in this edition are a lighter, quieter bronze. This print is the lighter print in the photos 3/20.
This hand inked & pulled, sepia like print is made dusing a process of named solar plate printing.
The result of the solar plate printing is sometimes described as ‘acid-free etching’ as it can achieve a fantastically wide range of texture, tone and line work without the use of any hazardous chemicals or processes.

I hand printed it on my Gunning etching press, in my Lincolnshire studio.
It is printed on high quality, unbleached Somerset paper, using using inks which have beautiful pigments rather than dyes so they offer excellent lightfastness and permanance . The inks carry the AP approved mark, so they are non toxic & solvent free.
